CARTAGENA

So we made it…..

Left Panama on Thursday into slightly high waives and nervous as we have not sailed in over 4 months. Sails up and motor on into wind and waives the first few hours to get a better angle to Cartagena.

Didn’t take long before first child started puking, loudly, like an elephant. Once, twice…..
That set the second one going……and of course Alice followed …….

In the back cabin, before the pukes started. Note Charlie's unhappy face....

The first day and night went smoothly otherwise. Caught a thresher shark, jeez. Didn’t know if we wanted it or not but pulled it up anyway. Took a long time to die, we tried to speed things up but they are tough old creatures…..

Followed by couple of tunas and a mahi mahi

Sea fishing
Yum yum!

Second night, about 50 miles outside Cartagena it got rough. Of course at night time…..

Everything seems so much scarier when dark. Had to hand helm as autohelm couldn’t cope with the big waives and going tight into wind we ripped the main sail, again. Yes, it’s getting old and worn…..

He longest night ever, praying that the engine wouldn’t fail…..for daylight…..for just getting there…..

Arrived Christmas Eve morning, found the perfect anchoring spot and let out a big sigh of ” we made it!”
